Wound Care and Dressing
Wound care and dressing are procedures that are applied to ensure that the wound heals in the best possible way. Wound care is performed to ensure that the wound remains clean and to prevent infection. Dressing wounds involves changing bandages or coverings that are applied to the wound to ensure that sterility is maintained and that the wound is protected from further damage.
HOW IS IT PERFORMED?
The wound care procedure usually begins with cleaning the wound to remove all foreign objects, dirt, and necrotic tissue. After that, an antiseptic agent may be applied to kill microorganisms that could cause infection. In some cases, antibiotics may also be applied.
After cleaning the wound, dressings or bandages are applied to protect the wound and ensure that it does not get damaged further. This is often done by applying a sterile dressing or covering to the wound and ensuring that the dressing is changed regularly to ensure proper healing of the wound.
