Dermatology and venereology

Dermatology is a branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of skin, hair, and nail diseases. Dermatologists assess acute and chronic conditions such as acne, rosacea, various forms of dermatitis, and psoriasis, infections (bacterial, fungal, viral), urticaria, disorders of the scalp and nails, as well as benign and malignant skin changes. Diagnostics use dermatoscopy and digital "mapping" of moles, laboratory and microbiological tests, and if necessary, biopsy. Treatment includes local and systemic therapy, advice on skin barrier care, and minor dermatological surgical and laser procedures where indicated. Venereology focuses on diseases that are transmitted through sexual contact (HPV/condylomas, genital herpes, syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, etc.). Specialists conduct targeted diagnostics (swabs, PCR, serology), treatment according to current guidelines, and provide counseling on prevention and partner testing. Emphasis is placed on confidentiality, discreetness, and collaboration with gynecology and urology when needed. In preventative medicine, early detection of skin tumors, especially melanoma, is of particular importance – regular mole examinations are recommended for individuals at higher risk (light skin, a larger number of moles, family history). In the field of venereology, prevention includes education about safer sexual behavior and vaccination against HPV. The goal is timely diagnosis and effective, individualized treatment with expert care and clear recommendations for further monitoring.
