Vascular surgery

Vascular surgery is a branch of surgery that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of blood vessel diseases. Vascular surgeons treat various conditions of blood vessels, including atherosclerosis (the buildup of fats and other substances within the arteries), aneurysms (the enlargement of an artery wall), occlusions (blockage of an artery), thrombosis (the formation of blood clots), and other diseases that can affect blood flow. In addition to blood vessel conditions, vascular surgeons are specially trained in the treatment of chronic wounds (such as pressure sores, wounds due to diabetes, and others).
