Areola Correction

Nipple correction is performed when the nipples appear unusually large, asymmetrical, or differently shaped than the normal appearance of a nipple.

How is it performed?

The nipple correction procedure can be performed under local anesthesia, or if desired, under general anesthesia, and usually lasts about an hour. During the procedure, the surgeon uses a scalpel or laser to remove part of the tissue around the nipple and shape it into the desired form.

When is the procedure indicated?

Nipple correction is usually recommended when the nipples appear unusually large, asymmetrical, uneven, or differently shaped than the normal appearance of a nipple, which can be caused by genetic factors, aging, hormonal changes, or other health conditions. Additionally, nipple correction may be indicated when the nipples cause physical discomfort or pain, especially during exercise or other activities. Furthermore, nipple correction may also be desirable for aesthetic reasons if a person does not feel comfortable with the appearance of their nipples. In any case, it is important for the patient to thoroughly consult with their doctor about the needs and expectations from the nipple correction, in order to jointly make the best decision regarding the application of this procedure.
